Shannon Dhindsa is a second-year Master of Public Health student at Yale University. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she honed her expertise in behavioral change strategies to promote healthier lifestyle choices. At the UBC Wellness Centre, Shannon played a pivotal role in healthcare communications, assisting nurses with content creation and managing marketing logistics to effectively engage university students on advanced health topics. Passionate about user-centered design, Shannon is committed to implementing impactful technologies in low- and middle-income countries to address public health needs with sustainable resources. She has worked with SalivaDirect at Yale and spent the summer in Tanzania researching the sensitivity of a saliva-based screening tool for diabetes mellitus and assessing patient satisfaction. Her understanding of leveraging technology has fueled her passion for using app-based designs to improve health outcomes. Shannon’s work integrates evidence-based epidemiology to develop practical toolkits that can be effectively deployed in diverse global settings.
Fun Fact
Shannon served as an athletic therapist for UBC’s Women’s Softball team for three years, traveling extensively along the West Coast with the team.
